Information, kaupapa and resources to support iwi as you navigate the education landscape

Work Programme
The current MILG work programme consists of mahi that contributes to the following priorities:
-
Working in partnership to ensure ākonga Māori have barrier-free access to multiple learning pathways
-
Grow the capacity and capability of whānau, hapū and iwi to take positions of influence across all levels of the education landscape, ensuring they are empowered to lead and shape decision-making
-
Working across education agencies and ILGs to ensure a collective approach achieves impact for ākonga Māori
-
-
Recognise the rights and responsibilities ākonga Māori have to collective knowledge systems through the production and protection of Mātauranga-ā-whānau, ā-hapū, ā-iwi
Iwi Education Leaders Database
MILG is building a database of iwi-endorsed education leaders to ensure that any key leadership opportunities we learn about can reach the right people. As we receive a growing number of requests for board appointments, advisory roles, and sector insights, we want to connect these opportunities with a trusted network of experienced and connected Iwi practitioners.

Iwi Education Strategies
Over the last year MILG have started to analyse Iwi education strategies to gather insights of iwi-led education priorities, kaupapa and initiatives. The sequence of rohe we have engaged with and completed insights for has been guided by NICF hui, as a way to give back to iwi and deepen our relationships throughout the motu.
By directly engaging with iwi, we ensure that iwi voice is integrated into our work programme enabling MILG to continue to support initiatives that benefit ākonga Māori and whānau.
