WIPCE 2025 abstract submissions close

WIPCE 2025 is dedicated to amplifying Indigenous research and empowering Indigenous researchers and communities. All abstract submissions must be Indigenous-led and presented. The lead presenter must clearly indicate their Indigenous or traditional affiliations. Submissions that are not clearly Indigenous-led will not be considered. Non-Indigenous collaborators who support an Indigenous lead presenter are welcome.

CONFERENCE LANGUAGES

The official language of WIPCE 2025 is English. While all abstracts must be submitted in English, presentations may be made in any language so long as English subtitles are provided. Written papers may also be in any language provided an English version of the written paper is also provided.

You can present in your native language, but please indicate in your abstract submission. The WIPCE 2025 team will endeavor to offer translation services.

ABSTRACT REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES

  • Abstract word limit: 250 words

  • Lead presenter biography: 100 words

  • All abstracts will be submitted via the WIPCE 2025 website only. You can review your abstract until 30 April, 2025, at 5pm (NZST)

  • If submitting a group abstract, a nominated lead person must make the submission on behalf of the group, with all members agreeing to the WIPCE 2025 requirements

  • Your abstract once confirmed will be published in the WIPCE 2025 programme and available on the WIPCE 2025 app. This will allow attendees to preview the content of abstracts and plan their schedules accordingly

  • Abstracts should summarise key information and conclusions about the research, project, or experience

  • Writing an abstract requires clarity, conciseness, and a compelling summary of your research, project, or experience, within the 250-word limit

  • The abstracts must be related to one or more (max two) of the eight conference themes.

He Puna Mātauranga 2025

The annual He Puna Mātauranga conference for iwi education practitioners is coming back for its second year in October 2025.

A purposeful kaupapa for practitioners to come together and wānanga on current iwi education priorities, engage in a shared learning sessions designed to recognise, celebrate and strengthen our iwi and hapū education networks.

WIPCE 2025

Aotearoa extends a warm welcome to our global Indigenous whānau to the World Indigenous Peoples’ Conference on Education (WIPCE) 2025, in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland from 16-20 November.

A pōwhiri (traditional welcome) by mana whenua (local tribe) of central Auckland, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei will welcome our manuhiri (visitors) to start the conference which features national and international keynote speakers, academic and community presentations, networking sessions, symposiums, panel discussions, seminars, workshops, cultural excursions, a village marketplace, parade of nations and concludes with a closing ceremony and finale concert.

He Kura Whakarea 2025

MILG are proud kaitautoko and sponsors for He Kura Whakarea 2025 - he kura whakarea pūkenga, whakarea whakaaro, whakarea putea! An annual financial capability wānanga by The Hidden Figures on Anzac weekend, Thursday to Saturday 24-26 April 2025 in Heretaunga.

The four main focus areas for this wānanga include:

  • Property investment

  • Investing 2.0

  • Pakihi & Putea

  • He maunga ka taea

It will be delivered similarly to last years Kura with a huge focus on all the behind the scenes mahi on how to buy/return whenua. We also want to use this as an opportunity to have participants out & about visiting Māori owned estates/papa kāinga etc. to see what our people are up to.

This is not a Kahungunu only financial wānanga. It's open to the motu to attend and has since sold out.
